Chat — Permissions

Overview

This page documents the permissions used in the Chat feature. Permissions determine which parts of the screen a user can access and which actions are available.

Permissions

Permission Grants access to Requires
view Access the Chat screen. See the assistant tabs, thread sidebar, conversation history, and message input. Access the Your Chats tab in the AI set up modal to manage personal threads.
edit Access the All Chats and Assistants tabs in the AI set up modal. Create, edit, activate/deactivate assistants and any user's threads. View audit logs for assistants and threads. view

Troubleshooting access

  • If the Chat option is missing from the menu, the view permission has not been granted.
  • If the All Chats and Assistants tabs are not visible in the AI set up modal, the edit permission is missing.
  • If a thread is not visible in the main chat view, it may be inactive or its parent assistant may be inactive — an admin can check from the All Chats tab.
  • To request access, contact your supervisor or system administrator.
